Lafayette Restaurants With the Most Health Violations in August

According to the Daily Advertiser, there were almost 1400 health violations by Lafayette Parish restaurants in the month of August. The news outlet listed the top six restaurants, all in Lafayette, cited for food safety violations by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (LDH) in the month of August.

El Paso Mexican Grill

El Paso Mexican Grill located at 1809 W. Pinhook Road in Lafayette was served 17 total violations, 6 were considered critical. The violations included the presence of roaches and food prepared in the restaurant not dated for expiration. Several critical violations were corrected at the time of inspection. Old Tyme Grocery, an Acadiana icon, located at 218 W. St. Mary Blvd in Lafayette was handed 19 violations total, 5 critical. Flies in the establishment were one violation. Most of the critical violations were corrected at the time of inspection. See complete inspection details.

Red Anchor Cajun Seafood Restaurant & Bar located at 5621 Johnston Street in Lafayette had a total of 23 violations in August, with 7 considered critical.
