Today is the national day for a candy that seems to be more hated than even licorice or Necco wafers.

Today is National Candy Corn Day, perfectly scheduled for the day before Halloween. Candy corn has been around for over a hundred years and yet for some reason, hate for the confection has been on the increase in the last few decades.

No matter how much people say they hate candy corn, it's still made and sold in huge amounts each year. Just last year, 35 million pounds or roughly 9 billion kernels were sold in the U.S. alone.
