The spring 2015 season of Movies in the Parc concludes with "The Karate Kid," This Saturday, May 30th. John Avildsen's classic tale of passage, & perseverance stars Ralph Macchio, and Pat Morita. This week's movie will be at 508 E. Vermilion (Corner of Vermilion & Johnston), instead of Parc International.

The Levitt AMP Lafayette Music Series commences Wednesday, May 27th at the Lafayette Horse Farm on Johnston Street. There will be 10 concerts, running from May 27th, to July 29th. The inaugural event will feature The Suffers.

The Batman franchise has endured for more than 50 years. Bob Kane's character has fascinated and thrilled multiple generations through comic books, a tongue in cheek TV show, and movies. Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, and Christian Bale have all played the "Caped Crusader", or "Dark Knight", if you prefer.

A campaign to clean up the Hub City began in February, with an eye to the upcoming cleanest city competition to held in April. Cities are group in categories based on size, with several Acadiana communities competing. Rayne and St. Martinville compete in Category F.Crowley competes in Category G. Judges from The Louisiana Garden Club Federation visited Lafayette on April 8th.

I've been a Saints fan since...Well, never mind! They were pretty bad when I arrived in Louisiana. In their first 19 seasons, the Saints won only 90 games, hitting the .500 mark just once. Enter Jim Mora in 1986. He'd previously led the Philadelphia/ Baltimore Stars to 2 USFL championships...

Pam Armentor is a loyal KTDY listener. She was listening to my radio show when she heard the "Q To Call" in the KTDY "Give Me the Money" contest. Pam called 877-854-WINS (9467). When she got through, Pam was told she was caller #26, but the 25th caller was a previous winner, and therefore ineligible, so she won the $1,000!

It seems like Hostess Twinkies have been around since the beginning of time. They actually made their debut around 1930. Production was halted by a labor dispute in late 2012. The company was liquidated and the brand was sold off. Twinkie production resumed in the summer of 2013. Urban legends have long held the sweet treats have a virtually unlimited shelf life...

After 33 years on the air, and more than 6,000 shows, David Letterman has called it a day. His final show ran a little long (about 17 minutes.) If network execs can't forgive that, screw 'em! The finale featured a great performance by the Foo Fighters, and an awesome "Top 10 Things I've Always Wanted to Say to Dave," by Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin, Jerry Seinfed, Barbara Walters, Julia Louis Dreyfuss, Chris Rock, Peyton Manning, Jim Carrey, Tine Fey & Bill Murray.

South Louisiana has had a lot of rain in recent weeks. I was recently driving in a rain storm, and saw numerous people driving without their lights on. That makes absolutely no sense to me...

Movies in the Parc continues this Saturday, May 23rd, with "Tangled," Disney's re imagination of the classic tale of Rapunzel. Gates at Parc International open at 6. The show starts at dusk.

The 2015 Acadiana St. Jude Dream Home is now open. More than 850 people visited on opening weekend. It's located in The Reserve, at 103 Habitat Ridge Drive in Broussard. The beautiful home, built by McLain homes, is valued at $650,000. Open house is every Saturday, and Sunday, Noon-6pm, Through June 21st.

The "reverend" Al Sharpton has apparently taught his daughter well. 28 year old Dominique Sharpton has filed a 5 million dollar lawsuit against the city of New York after spraining her ankle at the intersection of Broome Street and Broadway, October 2nd of last year. Miss Sharpton's suit claims she was “severely injured, bruised and wounded,” adding that she “still suffers and will continue to suffer for some time physical pain and bodily injuries,” and “permanent physical pain.”

Authorities Raided Lipsticks Gentlemen's Club late Thursday night. Nine individuals were arrested, including the owner. Five others are being sought. The raid was the result of an 8 month investigation, involving the Lafayette Police department, FBI, ATF, Metro Narcotics, The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Department, and Lafayette Fire Department.
