I've been a Saints fan since...Well, never mind! They were pretty bad when I arrived in Louisiana. In their first 19 seasons, the Saints won only 90 games, hitting the .500 mark just once. Enter Jim Mora in 1986. He'd previously led the Philadelphia/ Baltimore Stars to 2 USFL championships. Mora recruited several former players from that league to join the Saints, including Sam Mills & Vaughn Johnson of the "Dome Patrol." In 1987, Mora led the black & gold to a 12-3 record (only 15 games were played because of a player strike). He was named Coach of the Year. They were eliminated by Minnesota in the playoffs. They made three more playoff appaearances under Mora, never winning a post season game. Jim Mora holds the NFL record for most regular season wins without a playoff victory at 125. His post game rants are the stuff of legend. Coach Mora was inducted to the Saints Hall of Fame in 2002. Today, May 24th is coach Mora's 80th birthday. Happy Birthday, coach!

Here are a couple of his more famous rants...
