The Levitt AMP Lafayette Music Series kicks off this tonight, May 27th at Parc International It was originally scheduled for the Lafayette Horse Farm on Johnston Street. The change of venue is due to concern over damage to the area from the recent heavy rains. Start time remains the same, 6:30. There will be 10 concerts, through July 29th. The Suffers open the series. They're a 10 piece soul band, based in Houston. The Suffers have been featured on The Late Show With David Letterman. Marcella & her Lovers, featuring Marcella Simien take the stage June 10th. Marcella is the daughter of Grammy winner Terrance Simien. She & her band are based in Memphis. Their live performances have garnered a loyal following, and sparkling reputation in their own right. Other favorites on the schedule include the Pine Leaf Boys, Geno Delafose, and Marcia Ball.
