The 'New York Times' took to Google to find Thanksgiving dishes that were not the norm, even a bit strange, but were actually good.  Now don't knock these until you've tried them.

First is the Sopapilla Cheesecake.  Especially common in Oklahoma and our neighbors to the west, Texas.  It's a cheesecake made with crescent rolls.

Then there's the Pumpkin Whoopee Pie.  Really popular in New Hampshire and Maine.  What it is, is two pumpkin cookies with cream cheese filling between the two.  Doesn't that sound delicious?!

Stuffed Artichokes are also on the list.  Popular in two states, New York and New Jersey.

In Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming and Colorado there is a Thanksgiving dish that has a non-appetizing name but the ingredients make it sound like it might not be all bad.  The dish is call Frog Eye Salad.  It's a salad with pasta, fruit, eggs, shipped cream and marshmallows.  How can something with marshmallows be bad right?

And finally, give this a try, the Snicker Apple Salad.  Folks in South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska love it.  This dessert contains chopped up Snickers candy bars and apples in whipped cream.

Here is Louisiana we have our traditional favorites.  Here's a chance for you to venture out this Thanksgiving.  You and your family might just appreciate the change.
