CJ and Jenn’s Everything you Need to Know for Thursday, May 7
Good morning Acadiana. Lafayette government is joining the movement to open churches. Do you miss the spiritual part of your week? Going to church for worship has been stopped since the Coronavirus pandemic and many Southerners are missing starting Sunday mornings in the spirit. The governor is trying to be persuaded to open churches. If you'd like to know what's being done to change the governor's mind, click here.
As we continue National Nurses Week and National Teacher Week, KTDY continues to salute these amazing men and women. If you would like to nominate an 'essential' worker to receive a cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes, click here.
KTDY has put up a gallery of 2020 local graduates. Since most graduations have been canceled, we thought 2020 graduates should still be saluted for there hard work. To see local graduates of 2020 please click here.

TODAY IN HISTORY
302 years ago - In 1718, the city of New Orleans was founded by the French. Happy birthday HOLA!
75 years ago - In 1945, World War 2 ended.
55 years ago - In 1965, Keith Richards fell asleep after playing around on a new guitar. He knew he liked what he was playing on his new guitar before he fell asleep but after he awoke couldn't remember the riff. He did remember he'd started a tape recorder at some point during the night but didn't know if the recorder had caught the guitar riff he was working on before running out of tape. When he played back the tape, he had indeed caught the riff we now know as the opening for '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction'.
33 years ago - In 1987, Shelley Long's final episode of 'Cheers' aired. She returned for the series finale.
24 years ago - In 1996, Martin Lawrence was hospitalized after suffering a nervous breakdown. Remember when there were reports about him running into traffic and yelling at cars? That's what all that was about.
21 years ago - In 1999, 'The Jenny Jones Show' was ordered to pay more than $25 million to the family of Scott Amedure. Amedure was shot to death after he revealed he had a secret crush on Jonathan Schmitz on national television. The decision was later overturned.
