(KTDY) - Much of the Gulf Coast is getting a lot of rain this week, and things are on the move as the water levels rise.

Often when we get downpours, wildlife, snakes, ants, and even fish show up in odd places, and a recent video posted on social media shows a nice-sized catfish swimming in someone's yard.

Of course, with the digital age that we are in, we take every photo and video that we see on social media with a "grain of salt," but this latest video, after a downpour, comes from a reliable source.

James Spann posted a large catfish swimming in a flooded yard in Mobile, Alabama, after a recent storm, and this isn't as uncommon as you might think, especially if someone lives near a pond. Spann credits Mary Reeves for the video, so apparently, it was Mary who had an unplanned visit.

So, with all of the rain in the extended forecast for much of south Louisiana, if you live near a pond or any waterway, keep your eyes open. If your yard or neighborhood floods, you never know what you will see.

What to Look For in Flooded Yards

Again, I do want to caution you with several inches of rain projected in Acadiana in the days ahead, you do need to be mindful of ants, and perhaps even snakes showing up in your yard and near your home.

Kids have always been attracted to flooded areas. Remember, there are dangers lurking out there, and it is never wise to enter a flooded area if you are unaware of what lies in the water's depths.
