A few days ago, expressed the concern that the New Orleans Saints might be targeted by an atheist, or fringe religious group because they took their name from a Catholic holiday. This flap over the Fleur de Lis caught me completely off guard.

A battle rages over the name of the Washington Redskins football team. The recent Supreme Court decision has brought passionate praise, and sharp criticism. TV Land pulled The Dukes of Hazzard. If you miss watching Bo & Luke, I have good news!...

The kidnapping and murder of Mickey Shunick made national headlines, and shook the Lafayette community like no event I've witnessed in 30 plus years of living here. The Lafayette City-Parish council has decided her memory will be preserved in the most fitting manner possible.

Tobacco products come with warning labels, yet millions of people ignore them. In Mexico, public health officials take a different approach. Instead of appealing to people's concern for long term health, they publish a warning that appeals to machismo.

R.I.P. Camille "Li'l" Bob
I love music, especially music that comes from the heart. Camille "Li'l" Bob embodied that. He was born in Arnaudville in 1937. His Band Li'l Bob & The Lollipops were a favorite on the South Louisiana music scene for decades. They recorded, and performed from the 1950s into the 21st century, and were elected to the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 1992.

Steve's First Clapton Concert
I've been an Eric Clapton fan since I was 12. My first time seeing him live was shortly after my 18th birthday. It was a big disappointment. Three friends and I drove five hours from a remote spot in the Adirondack Mountains to Rich Stadium (It's since been renamed Ralph Wilson Stadium) in Orchard Park.

Bogus Drew Brees Story
The above photo is a screen shot of a story that's been periodically popping up on Facebook since 2012. That was the first time I noticed it, anyway. It's bogus, and could potentially harm your computer. Over the past three years, I've seen the same story shared, using the same photo, but the name of the player is changed.
