Behind the Scenes

It's going to be a rainy weekend in Acadiana and will be the perfect weekend to pull out your favorite rainy day song(s) and just stay in bed.  I'll let you hear mine, but you have to promise to let me know yours.

CJ and Debbie Ray welcomed two guests from the corporate offices in New York City to the KTDY studios this week. In honor of the visit, Chris from corporate serenaded listeners with his unique take on "Killing Me Softly," a Roberta Flack song covered by rap group The Fugees in the 90's...

As I was trying to figure out the settings on the new KTDY channel on Youtube, I found vintage audio and behind the scenes video from September 24th, 2008.  It doesn't seem like that long ago, but things looked a lot different, including Debbie Ray and me.

A lizard managed to find his way in to our well-insulated, but not airtight, building. Naturally, he made his way to KTDY, because, I think, that's where all the best crumbs are.

Today, immediately after the KTDY morning show ended at 10AM, Debbie Ray stormed out the control room as though a bolt of lightning had struck her from behind, the reason, outlined in an email, had co-host CJ not feeling the love.

Why do all of the computers I work on at home and at work do this?  There is no way I am the only person who experiences this, do you?

Hours of prep time go into getting our favorite stars ready for the 2014 Oscars red carpet! Luckily, the stars are kind enough to share behind-the-scenes pics of the process.

The Polyester Power Hour (PPH) party 2014 is over, but memories were made and if you were lucky enough to get a Poly Po Ho shirt, you now have a collector's item.  See these shirts being made behind the scenes at Action Specialties.

The Polyester Power Hour (PPH) show on KTDY, an all request retro feature on the morning show that embodies 70s and 80s music (except during an anything goes version), continues to be the number one rated show in the market Monday through Friday consistently now for almost 18 years.  But it was almost canceled.

Shortly after the ice started to form yesterday, I realized I may not be able to get to KTDY in the morning, so I thought I'd attempt to get to the station and crash in my office overnight, the ice said nope.

In his acceptance speech, Simien thanked the Recording Academy for the honor and for bestowing a Lifetime Achievement Award to the late Clifton Chenier.

Not all of the fun at the 2014 Grammys took place onstage and in the audience. Thanks to the wonders of social media, we got a keyhole, behind-the-velvet-rope look at all of the happenings.

2 - Year - Old St. Jude cancer survivor Annalise Arnaud and her mom Tara showed up in the KTDY control room during the Polyester Power Hour (PPH) Friday morning wearing her Polyester Power Hour pants.  Sha sha sha cute!

My first club DJ gig was at a little club in Franklin called Cedars and the owner, my dear friend Skippy Hebert, apparently found the first picture of me spinning the vinyl.  Those were the days!!

You can wake up with CJ and Debbie Ray and the Polyester Power Hour and go to sleep with Delilah since the RadioPup improvements include a Sleep Timer and a customizable Snooze Alarm!

Even after being on the air over 30 years, I'm still amazed at some of the things one can find in a radio station.

The 2014 People's Choice Awards didn't limit the awesomeness and fun to the red carpet or the live show. There was a slew of amazing behind-the-scenes action, too! See the best footage from the 2014 PCAs that didn't make it on TV right here.
