New Iberia Woman Salutes Emergency Personnel For Rescuing New Born
(New Iberia, Louisiana) - A woman from New Iberia took to social media to salute all of those who responded to a scary scene in the Walmart parking lot.
Darlene Jeanlouis posted several photos on Facebook showing police, fire, and EMS surrounding a vehicle and attempting to unlock its doors.
According to Darlene, a newborn child was accidentally locked in the vehicle while its mother was loading groceries in the SUV.
According to the social media post, Jeanlouis says she was sitting in her vehicle when a woman knocked on her window. She put the window down, and that's when the woman asked if she could use her phone to call someone after she accidentally locked her baby in the SUV.
After the call was made to someone with a spare key, it was determined that they were too far away, so Jeanlouis advised the mother to call 911.
Within minutes, police and fire were on the scene and attempting to get into the vehicle, where the baby was. The good news is that they unlocked the doors minutes after arriving on the scene, and the mother and baby were reunited.
Darlene says that she decided to document this unfortunate incident to thank those who responded to a parent's worst nightmare, locking their kids in a vehicle. She says that too often police and other emergency personnel are portrayed in a negative light, but that was not the case on this day, and she wanted to show how good the men and women who respond to 911 calls are.
The photos shared by Jeanllouis show emergency personnel working hard to open the vehicle's doors, and they did so successfully.

Summer Safety Reminders
We woulld like to remind you that with summer here, never leave anyone or anything in your vehicle. Temperatures soar the second you turn your vehicle off, and you certainly do not want to put your kids, pets, or anything else in danger this summer.
It is also worth noting that we all need to slow down and evaluate who or what may be in our vehicles. Yes, accidents happen, but please slow down this summer and take your time when exiting or entering your vehicle.
Now, here are some photos Darlene Jeanlouis shared on Facebook showing New Iberia emergency personnel responding to a newborn locked in the vehicle.
