Florida Deputies Make Louisiana Girl’s Day Much Brighter

(Lafayette, Louisiana) - Duputies patrolling the streets in Navarre Beach, Florida, made a young girl's summer day much brighter after they gifted her with several items from the patrol unit.

My family and I were recently on vacation in Navarre Beach when we decided to take a golf cart ride one afternoon, and that is when my daughter noticed two patrol units in a parking lot.

She quickly reminded me of the story I shared a few weeks ago, when I highlighted a Duson P.D. police officer who gave a young boy a sticker. Piper, my daughter, said that we should drive over to their location to ask if they had stickers, and I initially declined.

Well, after a few more seconds of convincing, we decided to approach the two Santa Rosa County units, and I explained to the deputies why we were there. No, we didn't help, but we did hope for a sticker that resembled their badge.

Importance of Police Interaction

After explaining why my daughter wanted her own sticker, the deputy in one unit quickly handed Piper her own police sticker, like the one she saw the young boy in Duson get, and then the deputy went a step further.

He told us he had more for her, then exited his unit and opened the car trunk. Inside it was another trunk or case, and there he had several toys for kids.

The deputy handed Piper sunglasses, swimming goggles, and an oozie for me. As soon as my daughter realized what this deputy was doing for her while on vacation, her face lit up, and so too did the faces of the two deputies we approached.

Law Enforcement Education

Deputies Psinas and Deputy Pruse did more than just make my daughter's day; they taught her to trust law enforcement and to never be afraid to approach any man or woman in uniform. I shared our interaction with the deputies on social media, and the agency then had this to say about Piper and their deputies.

Again, thanks to these deputies in Santa Rosa County, and I highly encourage other parents to allow their kids to interact with law enforcement agencies. There's so much more to it than a tangible gift; there are life lessons to be learned at such a young age.
