(Brusly, Louisiana) - Police in Brusly have arrested a woman who they say hit a golf cart with two occupants on it and continued driving away from the scene.
A dramatic video went viral earlier this week on social media after it showed a small SUV hitting the golf cart and causing it to overturn. The driver never stopped and left the scene.
Since the video surfaced, police identified the SUV driver, and she has reportedly been arrested.
WBRZ reports that two teenage girls were on the golf cart at the time of the accident, and amazingly, they only sustained minor injuries in the crash.
38-year-old Adriel Nicole Smith is accused of leaving the scene of the crash, and police have charged her with felony hit-and-run and obstruction of justice.
Brusly police say that the two children were driving the golf cart down West St. Francis Street and attempted to turn north onto Elaine Street. At the same time, the woman driving the SUV tried to pass the golf cart in a passing zone, but struck the front driver's side of the golf cart, causing it to overturn.
As you will see in the viral video below, part of the SUV lifts off the roadway as it hits the golf cart, causing it to flip. An extensive amount of damage was done to the golf cart, but as mentioned above, the two young girls on the golf cart sustained only minor injuries.

Safety Tips for Driving Golf Carts
Check out this disturbing video; it should remind all parents who let their kids ride or drive golf carts to always watch for other vehicles. Drivers are so distracted these days; if you're on the road, practice defensive driving at all times.
Always make sure the blinkers and lights work properly before operating golf carts on the road, and make sure the mirrors are set correctly.
In an update on the crash, police say the woman driving the SUV admitted it and was subsequently arrested. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
