Walmart Pre-Sliced Fruit Recall Due to Listeria
If you recently bought pre-sliced fruit from Walmart, you need to throw it in the trash. According to CNN, packaged fruit sold by Walmart is being recalled due to a potential Listeria Monocytogenes contamination.
Country Fresh is recalling containers of pre-cut apples, grapes, mangos, pineapples, and cantaloupe distributed to retailers such as Walmart as a precautionary measure after Listeria was detected on their equipment used where the products are packaged. According to the FDA, the recall is a precautionary measure.
The recall involves containers labeled “Freshness Guaranteed” that have sell by dates between October 3 and October 11,2020.
Symptoms of Listeria include high fever, headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Young children, elderly people, or those with a weakened immune system can have a more serious infection. It can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths.
