Early January is the time of year when you start to see and hear more weight lose products advertised on radio and television, but there are two habits that will help you lose weight and stay healthy.

A study found that adopting just two good habits may be all it takes to lose weight and reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer:  In the study, the participants were divided into two groups.  The first group were told to get moving and eat more fruits and vegetables, the second group were advised to eat less fat and get more exercise.  Can you guess which group lost the most weight?  The people who were asked to get moving and eat more fruits and vegetables were the most successful overall at losing weight and improving their health.

Researchers also found that participants who were encouraged to spend less time sedentary- i.e. sitting in front of the TV or computer- ultimately ate less fatty food.
