In 1958, The Quarrymen played their first live show together. The group would later change drummers and their name and become The Beatles.

In 1966 The Beatles played their last public concert.  The show was in San Francisco's Candlestick Park.

In 1977, three people were arrested in Memphis, Tennessee, for trying to dig up the body of Elvis Presley.  Vernon Presley soon arranged to have the bodies of his son and his wife moved to Graceland.

In 2005, Hurricane Katrina tore into the Gulf Coast on this date leaving devastating effects in the city of New Orleans, and surrounding areas.
