Texas Toddler Gets a Very Close Encounter with a Giraffe

If you see a wild animal out in nature, experts have always warned us not to feed the animals. But, when you go to your local zoo or wildlife center it's okay to feed the animals you just might get more than you bargained for like one Texas toddler learned.

The ride at the wildlife center turned into something very funny and wild for the family according to WFAA.com.

The family visited the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center for a day of fun. The day will be one none of them will forget. For certain, Paisly Toten and her parents will remember the day.

As you can imagine, it was one wild experience for Paisley and her mom and dad.

Jason, Paisley's dad told WFAA, "My heart stopped".

Sierra, the toddler's mom Sierra, said

I reached up to grab her back. By the time I reached up to grab her back, he had already dropped her out of his mouth.

Paisley's parents say the little girl wasn't even really phased by the incident, but she did ask her dad when she saw the gift shop if she could get a stuffed giraffe. He said, "Yes, baby".

Both parents say they don't hold the park responsible, and it was just an accident. The wildlife center sent the following statement to WFAA:

We were recently made aware of an incident involving one of our giraffes that occurred this past weekend. The incident was first reported to us on Monday June 3rd. The safety of our guests and animals is always of utmost importance to us. Although an incident like this has never occurred here previously, we are taking immediate action to make sure it won't happen again. Effective immediately Fossil Rim will no longer be allowing guests to ride through the park in truck beds.  Fossil Rim offers a variety of experiences guided by knowledgeable staff so guests can continue to have up-close and memorable animal encounters, and support our mission to save threatened and endangered species.

The family says they do plan to go back to the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in the future.
