If you are completely over winter, winter storms, coronavirus pandemic, quarantine and masks, you probably need a little getaway. To the beach, or the mountains. And now, thanks to Southwest Airlines, you can now fly the friendly skies to Destin/Ft. Walton Beach or Boseman, Montana.

According to USA Today, the nation's largest domestic airline carrier has added the two new "fun and sun" destinations as a way to counteract the severe travel depression that America has experienced due to the coronavirus pandemic. Southwest usually adds at least one or two new destinations a year, but in 2021 the airline will add 10. I guess I'm not the only one to think that the Florida panhandle and the gateway to Yellowstone  National Park are the perfect designations for a COVID weary world, as we are slowly inching back to "normal".

Southwest currently has 11 locations in Florida (including the new Destin/FWB) and this will be their third in the panhandle. Flights to this area begin on March 6, but not from every Southwest airport. Currently, they will only be available from of the airline's major hubs, which are Baltimore/Washington; Dallas Love Field, Nashville and Chicago Midway. The Chicago service will begin on June 6th.

The closest Southwest airport to Acadiana is Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans, and we're pretty sure that flights to Destin/FWB will be added in the near future. Flights to Bozeman, Montana will begin on May 27 and this is the first service from Southwest available in Montana. Time to pack those bags, folks!
