Two Drown at Louisiana Beachgoers Favorite Beach Destination

(Destin, Florida) - As beachgoers prepare to rush the Emerald Gulf Coast this summer, we have some sad news to share with you from Destin.

According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, two people, a married couple, drowned on Tuesday.

Authorities were called to the beach near 1040 US 98 Destin Tuesday evening after a woman was found unresponsive in the water. CPR was performed, but was not successful.

Then, authorities on the scene were notified that the woman may have been in the water with a man, and a search and rescue mission was launched. Sadly, responders found a man in the water, and they attempted CPR on him as he was transported to a Coast Guard Station, where he died.

The drownings are under investigation, and the names of the deceased have not yet been released.

As many of us head to the beach, we do remind you that it is never safe to be in the water during the nighttime hours, and that rip currents can be hazardous.
