Former Dream member Melissa Schuman has formally filed a police report alleging Nick Carter of rape months after first accusing him of forcing himself on her in 2003.

The Santa Monica Police Department confirmed to People that an incident stemming from 2003 was filed on Wednesday (February 7), the same day that Schuman tweeted the following:

“I’m finally doing what I thought I could no longer do. I’m filing a police report #timesup #bebrave #bethechange #metoo thank you @RAINN [the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network] for empowering me to take this step.”

Schuman first alleged in a 2017 blog post that Carter had forced himself on her in a in a bathroom in Carter's Santa Monica, California apartment amid the filming of 2004's The Hollow. She claimed that Carter forced oral sex on her, demanded the same in return and then took her to his bedroom, where her climbed on top of her and raped her

"I told him that I was a virgin and I didn't want to have sex," she said. "I told him that I was saving myself for my future husband. I said it over and over again. He whispered in my ear as to entice me, 'I could be your husband.'"

Carter responded to the allegations in November to People by denying that there had been any wrongdoing.

“I am shocked and saddened by Ms. Schuman’s accusations. Melissa never expressed to me while we were together or at any time since that anything we did was not consensual. We went on to record a song and perform together, and I was always respectful and supportive of Melissa both personally and professionally,” he said.

“This is the first that I am hearing about these accusations, nearly two decades later. It is contrary to my nature and everything I hold dear to intentionally cause someone discomfort or harm.”
