Nearly 8,000 people were without power in New Orleans, Louisiana after someone allegedly cut into a power pole.

Entergy reports that a customer cut into the service pole with a chainsaw, thus knocking out power to thousands.

FOX reports that the outage affected customers in the 7th Ward, Desire, Bywater, and Marigny areas.

There was no reason as to why someone cut the pole down, but the chainsaw used was left behind by the person who cut into the pole.

In recent years we've lost power in Lafayette for some bizarre or random reasons, like when a squirrel made contact with the wrong wire, but I can't recall anyone ever cutting down a power pole in the city. .

There were no reports of injuries in this incident, but many were frustrated after they found out what caused them to lose power to start the work week.
