(Baton Rouge, Louisiana) - LSU football is in full swing, and the demand for tickets to home games is high. Knowing that, there are those out there ready to take advantage of you and me when it comes to purchasing the football tickets, and the LSU Police warns us to be very careful when buying tickets to games. Scammers are out there, and some have reportedly already been taken advantage of when purchasing tickets.

According to WBRZ, a woman was booked into EBR Parish prison on several charges, including illegal transmission of monetary funds, after an affidavit said she scammed almost 40 people between August 6th and September 5th.

Several students came forward after paying for tickets online, but never received them. Therefore, LSU PD is advising everyone to purchase tickets to LSU games only from a trusted source. Anyone can claim to have tickets on social media, but sadly, some don't. Once you send money to them, you never hear from them again, and your money is gone.

It's always best to purchase tickets from people you know. If you don't know them, consider meeting up in person at a safe location to complete the transaction.

LSU PD says that they will be cracking down on scalpers and those selling fake tickets.  If caught, depending upon the amount sold, scammers could face felony or misdemeanor charges.

LSU football has several big home games coming in the weeks ahead, and you better believe that there will be a massive demand for tickets, so if you're purchasing them from an individual, proceed with caution.

One last thing, never give a stranger your credit card or debit card information when purchasing tickets.
