LSU Coach Lane Kiffin Says Son Encouraged Him to Ditch Social Media

(Baton Rouge, Louisiana) - While at SEC Media Day in Tampa, Florida, LSU Head Football Coach explained that his son challenged him to get off social media, and he has.

If you follow Coach Kiffin on social media, you know that he can be funny, controversial, and at times angry about things on the apps, but those are gone.

Like many other fans, I recently noticed that Kiffin went "dark" on social media, meaning that he was no longer posting. When he arrived at LSU, I started to follow him on X, formerly known as Twitter, and he was nonstop on the platform.

Well, apparently his son Knox saw and read enough, and he encouraged the first-year LSU coach to ditch social media posting, and Lane Kiffin has.

While sitting with reporters at SEC Media Day, Coach Kiffin said his son challenged him to get off social media, and he did, so much that he actually deleted all social media apps from his phone, and now he says that he is a happier man.

Kiffin, who has had to address various challenges in his personal life, says that once you eliminate some things in your life, you become a better person. He said that social media can be bad for you because it becomes a distraction, and it allows you to always compare yourself to what others have or what they are doing.

Since he's eliminated the distraction of social media from his daily life, Kiffin says that he's noticed he's happier and he's back to being true to himself.

So, if you were wondering why Lane Kiffin hasn't been on social media in recent weeks, here's why. Perhaps a "break" isn't always a bad thing.

Let me note here that Kiffin did become absent from social media platforms after he took a shot at his old employer, Ole Miss. In an interview with a magazine, he said that black families had reservations about sending their kids to the school and state, and he took a lot of "heat" for that.
