A Sheriff's Department in Louisiana was recently involved in a usual foot pursuit.

Those in law enforcement are trained in many things, and one is foot pursuits, but are they trained to give chase after a large bird?

Well, it happened recently for one agency and that would be the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's department posted on social media that they recently responded to a call that involved an Emu on the loose. Ernie The Emu allegedly cleared its enclosure and he was running wild through the Pearl River neighborhood.

After a brief foot chase, Ernie The Emu was taken to the ground and returned to its enclosure, all while being given a warning by responding deputies.

The Emu bird is flightless but can put up a good fight if confronted, however, all there seemed to be ok after the incident.

If you're wondering, an Emu can run up to 31 mph.
