Senator John Kennedy Tells Theo Von Louisiana Has More Alligators Than People
(Lafayette, Louisiana) - Senator John Kennedy was recently on the Theo Von Show when he informed him that there are now more alligators in the "Bayou State" than people.
As you may already know, Sen. Kennedy is never one to hold back his words, and he said it pretty convincingly that the alligator population now exceeds the number of people in our state.
While wearing a red Ragin' Cajuns shirt, Theo Von seemed shocked by the announcement and jokingly stated that Sen. Kennedy's opposing party may recruit the gators to vote for them in the next election. As you may expect, Sen. Kennedy seemed to like that one.
Louisiana Alligator Population
After hearing that there may be more alligators in Louisiana than people, I looked up the numbers. According to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, there are an estimated 3 million alligators in Sportsman's Paradise, with an additional 1 million raised on private farms.
So, with an estimated 4 million alligators in our state, does that number truly exceed the number of people here?
2026 Louisiana Population
According to World Population Review, there are 4.62 million people residing in Louisiana. So, while there may actually be a few more people than alligators in Louisiana, it's not by much, and perhaps there are a few more alligators hiding out there that have gone uncounted for.
Anyway, here is Sen Kennedy and Theo Von talking about our great state, and for those who love and support the Ragin' Cajuns, you have to love seeing Theo Von supporting the home team.

Enjoy the laugh here, and remember: you always need to be on the lookout for gators in our state. With millions out there, we may all need to keep Troy Landry's contact on speed dial.
