A number of my friends are hard core LSU fans. Some of them take the attitude, "I've gotta root for the SEC.", when ANY SEC team is involved in a major Bowl Game. I suggest reevaluating that stance.

Monday night's blowout BCS Championship win by the Alabama Crimson Tide bodes well for The SEC's reputation, and those of the University of Alabama, and Nick Saban.

For LSU?......Not so much.

LSU is not only competing with other SEC schools on the field, but also to recruit the best players. Les Miles can point to two BCS Championships at LSU. Many would argue he won his first with a team he inherited from Saban.

The Crimson Tide have won three of the last 4 BCS Championships, and Nick Saban is being heralded as one of the greatest coaches ever. Four players from Alabama were drafted in the first round last April. I'm sure that will bolster recruiting efforts.

LSU's New Year's Eve loss in the Chick-Fil-A bowl won't won't help Miles' case when potential recruits weigh the issue of "Alabama or LSU?" This is particularly true, given the manner in which the game was lost.

I leave you with this......When was the last time LSU had a great quarterback? Do you ever wonder why?
