Five Acadiana Celebrities That Should Be ‘Celebrity Guest Picker’ for ESPN College GameDay
(Baton Rouge, Louisiana) - ESPN's College GameDay is coming back to LSU to kick off the 2026 College Football season, and it will be a historic show from Baton Rouge.
College GameDay will not only be entering its 40th season on ESPN, but the show on September 5, 2026, from LSU will be its 500th.
In addition to those milestones, when College GameDay lands on LSU's campus to kick off the new college football season, it will also mark the beginning of the Lane Kiffin era at LSU.
LSU-Clemson Date and Time
LSU will be hosting Clemson in a marquee matchup that evening, Saturday, September 5th at 6:30 pm, and the eyes of college football willl be on Death Valley in Baton Rouge.
Now, if you are a fan of ESPN's College GameDay, you know that the show always ends with the cast giving their predictions for that day's games, and ESPN always has a "Celebrity Guest Picker" with ties to the university or region they are in.
In the past, we have seen celebrities like Lil Wayne, Laney Willson, and Livy Dunn show up on the set of College GameDay when the show originates from the LSU campus, but what if we were to put a local Acadiana celebrity on the set?
Here are five Acadiana celebrities we'd consider adding to the College GameDay cast when they arrive in Baton Rouge on September 5th.
Let's start with Dustin Poirier, who is a great ambassador for Acadiana. Dustin knows competition and is well-spoken; he'd be great on the ESPN set from LSU. Plus, we doubt that any opposing fan would "bully" this UFC Champ.
Then there's our friend Rob Perillo from KATC TV-3. Not only is Rob great at broadcasting, but while on set, he can give the crew and fans the latest weather update from campus, which will likely be very hot to start the month of September.
Knowing Rob, if given the chance to be on ESPN's College GameDay, he'd ride his bike across the basin bridge just to get to Baton Rouge.
Next, we'd nominate Wayne Toups. This Grammy Award-Winning musician is Acadiana! Plus, Wayne knows how to put on a show, and there's no doubt that we could get him to play one or two songs with his LSU accordion.
Sticking with musicians, Cupid would be great on College GameDay. Not only is our friend always so positive and full of energy, but he is the LINE DANCE KING!! I have no doubt in my mind that he'd have everyone on campus doing the "Flex" at the crack of dawn on this day.
Lastly, we have to nominate the governor of Louisiana. No, we are not getting political here, but the last time College GameDay was on the campus of LSU, Gov. Jeff Landry rented a live tiger to show up on the sidelines for that night's game. No telling what he'd get this time.
Here's the official announcement from LSU Football that ESPN is coming to town to kick off the Lane Kiffin era in Baton Rouge. And yes, we are counting down to the start of college football.
