Studio 54 was the night club that brought the famous and regular people together, that is, if your were allowed in.  Money and social status meant nothing to Steve Rubell who on most nights was perched out front deciding who to let in and who to keep out.  Many nights there were more people out front on the street than there was inside.  Even Cher couldn't get in one evening.

Studio 54 opened April 26, 1977 after only 6 weeks of renovation and was sold in 1980 after Schrager and Rubell were convicted of tax evasion.

During the KTDY New York/Bermuda trip last week, I had a chance to visit the famed nightclub.  It was almost as amazing as visiting Graceland for the first time.  I'd seen it in movies, on the internet, in magazines and pictures but to see it in person blew my mind.

Anybody who was anybody in Hollywood in the late 70s visited Studio 54.  So to walk through those same doors, and walk down the same rotunda, was exhilarating to me.  It's one of those moments I will never forget.
