(99.9 KTDY) - Youngsville Mayor Ken Ritter is urging those who can to help Avoyelles Parish recover from severe flooding after the remnants of what was Tropical Storm Arthur dumped 30 inches of rain in their community.

Hundreds of Homes Flooded in Louisiana

Hundreds of homes in that area have been flooded due to the severe rain event, and Ritter says it was only 10 years ago that his community faced a similar flooding event that also cost hundreds of people their homes, as flood waters caused massive damage.

Message from Youngsville Mayor Ken Ritter about Avoyelles Parish Flooding

Mayor Ken Ritter had the following to say on Facebook,

When Youngsville needed help, Louisiana answered the call. Let’s show the people of Avoyelles Parish the same compassion, generosity, and support that was shown to us.
Please consider donating, sharing this post, and keeping these families in your prayers. Every contribution makes a difference.

The people of Avoyelles Parish, along with others in neighboring parishes, need help after some areas received dozens of inches of rain in a 24-hour period.
