Woman Meets Deceased Father’s Best Friend By Chance
This is one of those stories that will give you goosebumps.
A woman in medical school struck up a conversation with the attending physician after assisting with a surgery and found out that she and the man, whom she had never met, had a lot in common.
Twitter user and podcaster @erica_wenger posted the story this week of her twin sister's recent encounter.
Wenger said that it was her sister who was having the conversation with the doctor and, when asked where he went to medical school, the doctor replied, "the University of Arizona".
Before we go any further, you must know that the sisters lost their father before they were even born, so they never had the opportunity to meet him.
When the doctor told the sister that he graduated with the class of '88, the woman mentioned that's the same school and year her father graduated.
The doctor asked for his name, as he probably knew him if they were both at the same medical school at the same time.
When the sister said his name, the doctor "dropped his instruments & immediately froze."
The twins' father was the attending doctor's best friend in college.
The attending doctor knew that the man had passed away, but had no idea his widow had given birth - or that she had been pregnant at all.
Wegner goes on to say that her sister and the attending physician shared stories about their father, shared some tears, and then told the woman something that is very heartwarming.
The doctor said that her father is one of the reasons he went into the field of gynecological oncology.
It appears that the twins' father died of a rare cancer - feminine in "origin" - that compelled his best friend to enter that field.
Wenger ends her post with the question that is on everyone's mind: what are the odds of those two people standing in the same operating room, striking up a conversation that, I am certain, will bond them for the rest of their lives?
One of the reasons I try to meet and chat with people everywhere I go is because I want to see if I can connect us in 6 degrees or less.
Sometimes, as in this case, these two random strangers were VERY connected through one single person.
