Want to Stop Being So Addicted to Your Phone? Here’s How
We have become so accustomed to having our phones in our hands, that we can hardly remember a time when it wasn't part of our everyday life. And most people say it has gotten to the point of ridiculousness. According to some reliable sources, Americans reach for their phones at least 80 times a day. Wow. For those of us who use our phones for work, it's not so easy to put them down, but it sure is tempting sometimes. The struggle is real, y'all.
- Delete your most addictive apps. If you have to check them on your laptop, you're probably less inclined to check your Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts every two minutes
- Set up a roadblock. Some of our mindless phone use is automatic, but if you do something like put a rubber band around your phone case, or a hair ribbon, it might jolt you out of the inevitable habit of signing in.
- Remove the temptation. In other words, put your phone away in a drawer, in your purse, or somewhere where it's not in plain sight. You'll be less tempted to mindlessly pick it up if it's not right in front of your face.
- Apps to help you stop. Help is on the way! The following apps can help you stop the mindless scrolling. Space - free on iOS and Android. Moment Screen Time Tracker - free on iOS, and Freedom - $7 a month or $29 a year for iOS users
