Several people are reaching out on social media to say that they are having issues with their AT&T cell service.

According to some of our colleagues in the Lake Charles area, cell phone service for those who have their phones with AT&T has been spotty since before noon today.

Also being reported, in addition to the cell outages, is an issue with AT&T's internet service.

Currently (2:44 pm 12/15/22), the map provided by the website Down Detector shows a few reports of issues with AT&T's service across the country.

Outages in Kansas, Georgia, Florida, and Texas are showing on Down Detector's outage map, which is created when individuals report outages or issues with service on their phones.

The issues in Texas - which appear to be happening in the Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston areas, are (more than likely) the reason many in Southwest Louisiana are without service.

Comments on the Down Detector page include some from people in the Lake Charles area.

Those comments appeared on the Down Detector site around 10 this morning.

Another one of the comments on the site came from someone in the Pine Prarie area, which is just north of Houston, Texas.

Although there is nothing that we could find on AT&T's website, someone on Down Detector reported that the issue is allegedly being caused by damage to some fiber lines.

Most of those reporting problems with AT&T today appear to be those with cell phone service.

No firm word on the actual cause for the reported outages.
