Life is short: use the good china.

For the past few weeks, I have been helping out a friend who is trying to downsize. She is getting up in years, and she will soon be moving in with her daughter because she can no longer totally care for herself.

One of my friends helping with the cull mentioned how, when he was married, the "good" china was only brought out when special guests were dining with their family. He said: "You know, life is short. We should use the good china every day. We're worth it."

That got me to remember something that my father once told me. He said: "Son, this is it. The only life you get. You'll make mistakes and might have to do some things over again until you get it right, but you'll never be able to do the WHOLE thing over again. This is it."

Treat yourself, and your spouse/family, like special guests, because they are. The mayor, the priest, the in-laws, the boss - they all are JUST LIKE YOU. No more, no less.

Live. Eat. Laugh. Use the good china. Every day. You're worth it.
