Thousands of Hummingbirds Are Headed to Louisiana

Hummingbirds are amazing tiny creatures. Imagine being about 4 inches long, flying all the way across the Gulf of Mexico (nonstop) and the first land you see is Louisiana. Get ready, Louisiana is about to receive thousands of tired hummingbirds look for a meal and a rest.

After 22 hours of continuous flight, hummingbirds will be arriving in Louisiana shortly. They will be looking for food, rest and a place to nest starting in late February. So get those feeders ready.

According to wildbirdscoop.com, males will leave first, about a week before females. Most fly solo, so they won't arrive in flocks.

The outlet suggests these flowering-bearing hummingbird attracting plants in addition to feeders, or just on their own.
