Chances are kids in costumes weren't the only things going bump in the night as we transitioned from All Hallows Eve to All Saints Day. A line of very strong to severe thunderstorms is still rumbling across the state as of this writing.

Across Acadiana, the major power providers, SLEMCO, CLECO, LUS, and Entergy were all reporting some customers without power at the height of the storm.

SLEMCO estimated there were slightly over two thousand of their customers without power. Entergy didn't have quite that many but outages reported to that utility were widespread.

CLECO had over 12,000 customers without power as the storms rumbled across the area. The majority of those outages were in Rapides Parish. It was estimated at one time 60% of the CLECO customer base was reported to be without service.

Beauregard Parish appears to have been particularly hard hit by the storms as about half of Beauregard Electric Cooperative customers were reporting outages at least sometime during the evening.

The good news is the heaviest of the weather is moving away from the area and utility crews are already in the field working to restore power. I for one am grateful for these men and women who get up out of bed and go out into the storm just so you and I can have our radio and our hot coffee for breakfast.
