Next Monday, January 20th our nation will pause in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. That day has been set aside by many communities as a day of service and community involvement. Lafayette's celebration of the life, legacy, and teachings of Dr. King will certainly involve a myriad of ways we can all make our community a little better.

One of the focal points of this year's MLK Day celebration will be the parade. This year's parade will take to the streets of Lafayette on Sunday afternoon. The parade is scheduled to roll beginning at 3 pm.

The parade route will begin on Cora Street. It will then progress down MLKing Memorial Parkway (Willow St) to the Clifton Chenier Center. There is no cost to participate in the parade however you must pre-register. To do that you will have to pick up the application and present your proof of insurance at the Central Fire Station located at 300 Vermilion Street and/or call (337) 291-8703.
