Make Your Next Gumbo ‘Pop’
I love this rice! first, let me say this, Cajun Country Rice is an advertiser on KTDY but they did not pay me to say this, Townsquare Media is not paying me, nor do either know about the opinion you are about to read. This rice is so good, I had to tell you about it. Honestly, I believe when you try it, you will NEVER buy any other rice.
The first time I was introduced to this rice was at a Christmas party that my friend Tye had about 5 years ago. He always makes a delicious huge pot of gumbo for everyone. Tye is an excellent cook.
That particular Christmas, I could smell the roux from the gumbo coming from the kitchen, but there was also this other delightful smell but I couldn't tell from what.
Tye tells me, "it's popcorn rice". Now, I'm no chef, but who's ever heard of "popcorn" rice? Popcorn is for the movies.
He said, "it's so good you can eat it by itself". And he was right.
When the kids come over, I almost always cook something that requires rice. And ever since that Christmas at Tye's house, I have never served any other rice than Cajun Country Popcorn Rice in my home. The kids love it!
