‘Neighbor Spoofing’ Is Latest Phone Scam
Robocalls drive me crazy! They're getting more & more sophisticated, too. The latest wave is called "neighbor spoofing." The callers manipulate numbers & area codes to make it look like the calls are of local origin. That trick doesn't work on me. If I don't recognize the number, I don't answer. If they don't leave a message, don't call back. The FCC is aware of the problem. They have tips for keeping your personal information from being compromised.
Don't answer calls from unknown numbers.
If you take a call, and are asked to hit a button, DON'T do it.
Don't answer questions, especially "yes" or "no."
Let calls from unknown numbers go to voicemail.
