Another $4.5 million from the Department of Transportation is coming to the Lafayette Regional Airport. This grant will fund the reconstruction of the airport apron, the area of the airport where aircrafts are parked, loaded, unloaded and fueled.

"The Lafayette airport is an important transportation hub for South Central Louisiana," said U.S. Sen. John Kennedy in an announcement Friday. "This grant is a great investment into the functionality of the airport, improving operations and commerce at the airport."

Earlier this month, it was announced that $10.5 million in federal funding as part of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP)  was going to the Lafayette Regional Airport. This grant will be used to finance taxiway improvements.
