The Longest Flight You Take Out of Louisiana
(KTDY) - If you're a fan of flying and want to take a long trip, here's the longest flight you can take out of Louisiana.
Just a few days ago, my daughter and I were outside while she was playing in the yard, and a plane flew over the house. She asked me where I thought the aircraft was heading.
When she asked me that question, a light bulb inside my head went off, and I asked myself, "I wonder what's the longest nonstop flight out of Louisiana?"
We continued to play outdoors until the mosquitoes signaled it was time to retreat indoors. Once things had settled down at home, I got on my computer and conducted a quick search to find the answer to my question.
Knowing that the airport in New Orleans is an international airport, I had already suspected that the longest flight out of our state would likely originate from there, and I was correct.
According to my search, the longest flight you can take out of Louisiana is for 8 hours and 50 minutes. For those who hate to fly, this would likely feel like an eternity, while others may loathe the long-distance flight.
I am sure you're wondering where to go from New Orleans if you're on a plane for nearly nine hours, and the answer is London. A direct flight out of NOLA will take you to London, and if you're on that plane, you'll prepare to watch a few movies and get some much-needed rest, after all, you'll have the time.
In my search for the longest flight out of Louisiana, I also discovered that the most popular international destination from New Orleans is San Pedro Sula.
Longest Flights Out of New Orleans
As for the second-longest flight out of Louis Armstrong International Airport, it's to Seattle-Tacoma, and that trip is just over 1,800 miles. Coming in third, for the longest direct flight from New Orleans is the flight to San Fransico, which is approximately 1,660 miles.
For fun, I looked up the shortest flight out of the New Orleans airport, and that's a flight to Houston, which has an average of nine flights per day.
So, the next time you're driving into or out of New Orleans and you see a plane departing, think, those aboard may be taking the longest flight out of Louisiana, and if so, they've got a long day or night ahead of them.
