Today at 1 pm KATC aired the press conference in regards to the arrest of 33 year old, Brandon Scott Lavergne and an update on the Mickey Shunick investigation.

Mickey Shunick was reported missing on May 19th after riding her bike home from a friends house. Last month her bike was discovered under the Whiskey Bay exit on I 10.

After numerous searches, and many tips from the tip line, police have made an arrest. Yesterday, 33 year old Brandon Scott Lavergne was arrested and charged with one count aggravated kidnapping and one count of first degree murder.

Today, the Lafayette Police department held a press conference to divulge information about Brandon Scott Lavergne's  arrest and new information towards the investigation. Police believe Lavergne 's truck was the one in question after it had been seen on surveillance footage. Police confirmed that the white z71 Chevy was stolen and was found burned in Texas. Lavergne was arrested yesterday for an unrelated warrant, but when brought into questioning he refused to cooperate with investigators and demanded an attorney. Police say they are still investigating  Mickey's whereabouts , but the chief of Police, Chief Craft, did say that there is evidence that leads investigators to believe she was murdered.
