(Boothville, Louisiana) - A driver in Louisiana drove up on something you don't see every day in the Bayou State, an alligator with no tail crossing the road..

Ashlyn Bartholomew posted a video of this alligator crossing a road in south Louisiana. As you'll see below, the alligator has no tail.

Now, because we're in the digital age of AI, I initially thought that this may be fake, but it's not.

Ashlyn witnessed this alligator crossing the road not far from a family member's house, and she says that the gator ultimately retreated into a nearby canal. I just wonder how difficult it may be for it to swim without a tail.

No one knows what happened to this alligator's tail, but many speculate that it may have been born without a tail or that it got injured in a confrontation with another alligator.

Can Alligators Regrow Tails?

Yes, young alligators can regrow tails that have been injured and removed, but they may only grow back up to nine inches.

The regrown tail is anatomically different from the original. It lacks bones and muscles and consists mainly of connective tissue and cartilage.

Here's a look at this alligator without a tail, so don't think you're eyes are fooling you here. Let me warn you, there's EXPLICIT language in the video below.
