The family of Kirstie Alley thanked Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL after the Emmy Award-winning actress lost her battle with colon cancer on Monday at the age of 71.

The TV star had only recently been diagnosed with colon cancer according to her manager Donovan Daughtry in a statement to the Los Angeles Times.

Kirstie Alley's Family Give Thanks to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL

As many folks here in Acadiana are very well aware, my daughter Brittni was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 while working at Disney in Orlando, FL. She was taken from a hospital in Celebration, FL by ambulance to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL where a team of incredible doctors and nurses went to work to save her as cancer cells had consumed her healthy blood cells.

The Clements family would like to extend our sympathy and we shine the brightest of light on Kirstie Alley's friends and family during this time of mourning. -CJ/KTDY

And to the amazing men and women of Moffitt Cancer Center, may God bless each of you. To nurses Wayne, Joel, Mary, Lisa and many others and to Doctor Jeffrey Lancet (the man who ultimately saved my daughter's life) and his teams of doctors, we are forever grateful for the knowledge, love and comfort you gave to us and to every patient and their families. As I've said personally to every one of you, you are part of our family now. We wish you all a very blessed holiday season. -CJ/KTDY
