Game Shows Aren’t What They Used To Be

If you are as young as I am (at heart), you will remember Richard Dawson’s role as the host for the game show “The Family Feud“.  Just having family members trying to work together to win the game provided for great TV moments, but I think that it was Richard Dawson’s sense of humor that made the show so great.

Today’s game shows, although some are riveting (remember “Millionaire“?), are not much more than flash and shine, with dramatic music thrown in for effect.

It’s moments like these are why Richard Dawson will always be my favorite game show host.

And, most times, Dawson doesn’t have to do much, the contestants’ answers are the stars…

But it does look like Richard Dawson had a heart, as evidenced in this clip…

Maybe it’s not the game shows that have changed so much;  maybe it’s the hosts.
