(Baton Rouge, Louisiana) - A police officer with the Baton Rouge Police Department is being applauded for his service.

Officer E. Kay was seen assisting an elderly person with a walker at a busy intersection, and this truly is serving his community.

Often, we see and hear the slogan "Protect and Serve," and this officer truly served his community when he stopped traffic at night so an elderly person could cross the intersection safely.

As you will see below, the elderly person was moving slowly as they crossed the roadway, and without the officer blocking traffic, the elderly person may not have made it to the opposite side before the light changed.

Because this was at night, it made it more dangerous, which is why this officer stopped traffic so this person could cross the road safely.

What a remarkable gesture, and we applaud this officer for recognizing what was happening and for stepping in. Officer Kay, job well done.
