(Scott, Louisiana) - A well-known Chief of Police in Acadiana has announced that he will be retiring in 2026.

The Scott Police Department announced on social media that Chief of Police Chad Leger will retire in December, after serving 38 years in law enforcement.

Leger worked with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office for several years, then transitioned into politics, where he was elected Chief of Police for the City of Scott. Chad Leger has been the Chief of Police for 24 years

In his statement, Leger said:

"I am very grateful and thankful to the citizens of Scott for allowing me to serve as your chief for 24 years. Many opportunities were created in my career but none of what I have accomplished would have been possible without the love and support of my personal family and friends."

We wish Chief Leger the best in his retirement and thank him for his many years of service to Lafayette and Scott.
