Ochsner and KTDY Partner to Help Lafayette and Acadiana Women Detect Breast Cancer Early

(99.9 KTDY) - October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and in partnership with Ochsner Lafayette General Breast Center, we will be taking five ladies and their friends to receive their yearly mammogram.

Here's How You Enter the Contest:

The only way to become a qualifier is to listen to Mornings with Chris and Bernie from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. weekdays. At some point during that hour, we will ask for the 7th caller to 337-237-KTDY, and that person then becomes a qualifier. We will do this weekdays from October 6 through October 17. On Friday, October 17, we will randomly select five women as winners. 

Breast Cancer Awareness Month: One in Eight Women at Risk

The American Cancer Society reports that approximately one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer over the course of their lifetime. When breast cancer is diagnosed in the localized stage, it's 99% treatable. Early detection of breast cancer is key, and mammograms are the detection mechanism.

HERE'S HOW YOU QUALIFY: YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE MORNING SHOW!

Each year, KTDY lets the mammosine roll by, taking five women along with a guest to have their yearly mammogram done with a doctor's order.

As the tradition continues this year, each day during Mornings with Chris and Bernie, we will share statistics with the audience in an effort to raise awareness about Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Goodies, Lunch & Support: What Women Can Expect on the Mammosine

The mammosine will take the ladies to the Ochsner Lafayette General Breast Center for their mammograms, and then we will treat ourselves to a fabulous lunch. Each woman receives a bag full of goodies from 1 Tom Plumber. This is the 18th year that the mammosine will roll through Lafayette. Thank you, Ochsner Lafayette General Breast Center, for making this happen!!! 

The Importance of Mammograms After Age 40

It is recommended that women over 40 have a yearly mammogram. When you receive your prescription, you have a choice in where to have the test completed. Ochsner Lafayette General Breast Center. How to Qualify for a Spot on the Mammosine 2025

Each weekday morning between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. from Monday, October 6, through Friday, October 17, Mornings with Chris and Bernie will take one qualifier by phone. On Friday, October, we will do a random draw of five qualifiers. They will be invited, along with one friend, to join us in the Mammosine.
