Battle To The Bone Fundraiser

I'm worried about my kids.

"Battle to the Bone" is a fundraiser set for May 10 to benefit the family of Cory Guidry, a local man who recently went through a stem cell transplant.

Cory's story is not one of the "sad" cancer stories that we usually hear. Don't get me wrong, having cancer is never a "happy" thing; it's just that Cory is strong, his doctors are confident, and he is doing well. The reason for the benefit is actually for his children.

During his year-long recuperation, a period in which his immune system is weakened, Cory can't be around many people, including his own children. He can't work, either, which brings up a huge concern for Cory.

I'm not worried about me, I'm worried about my kids. I don't want my illness to affect them. I want them to be able to continue their daily routines, their ball games, their schooling. I just want to make sure that my cancer doesn't affect them.

That is what this benefit is about: Cory's kids.
