So far, 2021 has not been a great year if you're a fan of the Walt Disney Resorts. And they are facing just as tough a time during the pandemic as the rest of us, and that must be very difficult if you're known as the "Happiest Place on Earth".

Disney officials have announced that they are suspending sales of their popular annual pass program at their Florida parks. Even though they won't be selling new passes, if you already have one, then you're not completely out of luck. Current pass holders will be able to renew, according to WFTS Tampa Bay. The Florida parks re-opened in July, with strict CDC guidelines being enforced for attendees.

But it's bad news for the California Disney parks, which have been closed since March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Disneyland announced on Thursday that their annual Passports program would be ending. Ken Potrock, president of Disneyland Resort told USA Today "Due to the continued uncertainty of the pandemic and limitations around the reopening of our California theme parks, we will be issuing appropriate refunds for eligible Disneyland Resort Annual Passports and sunsetting the current program." Potrock went on to say that the company was working on "new membership offerings" for their loyal customers. Recently Disneyland's parking lot was being used for a huge coronavirus vaccination site.

The news comes on the heels of another announcement a couple of weeks ago that saw Disney discontinuing their Magical Bus Express shuttle service from Orlando International Airport and no longer offering their Extra Magic Hours perk for customers.
