Petanque (Pa-tonk) is a funny French name for a fun game. And you can play it here in Lafayette! I'd never heard of it until Mike Leblanc educated me about it. Petanque is a bowling game traditionally played in town parks and squares in France on hard packed surfaces. The games is played by rolling metal balls on the ground, seeking to displace other player’s balls (boules in French).
Friends of Palmetto Island State Park has scheduled the 2nd Annual Jambalaya Plate Lunch sale for Sunday, May 27th.
The park, maintained through cooperation between the Lafayette Consolidated Government and the Vietnam Veterans of American (VVA), Acadiana Chapter (Hill 141), has served as the setting for many events, including Memorial Day ceremonies, Veterans' Day ceremonies, remembrance services, birthday parties, anniversary parties, and group get-togethers.
Cycle Zydeco, a bicycle riding tour of the Lafayette, Breaux Bridge, Opelousas, Mamou, Eunice area was supposed to be cancelled this year after a wonderful 10 year run. But cyclists from the Kansas City area would not stand to miss their annual trip to Acadiana and decided to organize their own trip!
With the weather in the cool-down mode, now is the perfect time to visit the Acadiana Park Nature Station and Dr. Tommy Comeaux Nature Trails.
